Overview
It’s a short 4 hour drive from Nairobi city to the big country sites of Amboseli National Park – think mighty Mt. Kilimanjaro and majestic herds of elephants. This park lies at the foot of Africa’s tallest mountain and the largest free-standing mountain in the world. Its famous form watches over the park and all its wildlife – four of the “Big Five” are found here.
There’s plenty of reasons Amboseli is such a popular park – we’ve already mentioned the photographic presence of Kilimanjaro, but did you know that this park may be the best place in Africa, if not the world for viewing free-ranging elephants? The light terrain of the park combined with the great numbers of elephants here guarantees you will see them as they parade in their imposing herds.
