Itinerary
Departing from Nairobi after breakfast, you will drive along the floor of the famous Great Rift Valley on your way to the Maasai Mara.
Along the way, you'll stop at the Great Rift Valley viewpont for a stunnning panorama of the lakes, plains, and volcanic terrain that dominate the region. You'll later stop in the Maasai town of Narok to stretch your legs before continuing on to Kenya's most famous reserve.
You'll arrive at your lodge in time for lunch and then head out on an afternoon game drive in the park.
Wake before the dawn for the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to witness a Maasai Mara sunrise. After a quick cup of coffee, you'll head out into the park to watch as the sun sets fire to the savannah and the big cats take advantage of the morning cool to search for a meal.
Alternatively, you can take to the skies with a hot air balloon safari that will see you soar above all of the action before setting down on the plains for a champagne breakfast among the wildlife. Ask your safari expert about adding a hot air balloon adventure to your safari.
You'll then return to your lodge for a late breakfast before packing a picnic lunch and heading back out into the park for a day-long exploration of the Maasai Mara. You may also opt to relax at your lodge in the morning, enjoy lunch on site, and then head out again in the afternoon once the weather has cooled off a bit.
Since the movements of the Wildebeest Migration can be unpredictable, we've budgeted for an extra day here in the Maasai Mara to increase your chances of witnessing the famous river crossing.
Each year the entire herd must attempt the treacherous crossing of the Mara River, where they contend not only with strong currents, but also with the always hungry Nile crocodiles who call the river home. It takes a lot of patience and more than a little luck, but witnessing the dramatic river crossing is a bucket list worthy item.
Early pre -breakfast game viewing drive in search of the predators and grazers. Check out, proceed to Nairobi and then transfer to the airport.
